SPD4459 Destination - Drinking beer in western; Drinking Tea in Chinese

As we all konw, western people like drinking beer in most of time such as dinner, party, gathering and so on. However, Chinese people just used to drinking beer in party instead drinking Tea in most of time.




Some western poeple also love drinking chinese tea, and find that this is a good way to understand and explore chinese culture. Therefore, someone would learn chinese culture from drinking tea.
If you interest to chinese tea or chinese culture, i highly recommand you to visit Flagstaff House Museym of Tea ware which located in central western district of HongKong.  


There are many activities you can experience, such as Tea alive, Tea for All, and permanent exhibitions.

Tea Alive: 
 Dr K.S. Lo established the Vitasoy Company in 1940. By the nutritious value in soybean, ‘Vitasoy' was produced in order to provide an affordable and a nutritious drink for the working class people. At present, Vitasoy has become an authentic Hong Kong product. We have invited the author of ‘The Story of Vitasoy from 1940 to 1990' to introduce how the change of Vitasoy is closely related to the social transformation of Hong Kong. Don't miss it!

Tea for all:  [Tea Demonstration in Four Seasons (Cantonese / English*) ]
Jointly organised by the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, the Sheung Yu Tea House and the Lock Cha Tea Shop
The choice of tea should differ according to the seasons so as to get the maximum benefits and help us stay robust in health, for the body and the mind. In this programme, the tea-masters of Lock Cha Tea Shop and Sheung Yu Tea House will demonstrate various types of tea that should go with the seasons. Participants can feel the fragrance of scented tea in spring, the breshness of green tea in summer, the nourishing feelings of Oolong tea in autumn and the mellowness of dark tea in winter. Come and join us for this special experience.

Permanent exhibitions:
This exhibition introduces the history of Chinese tea drinking and features various kinds of tea ware, from the Tang dynasty (618 – 907) to the 20th century. An education corner on "Essential tea vessels", with facilities for the people with visual impairment, is set up to give visitors a more comprehensive background on tea and to encourage a culture of tea drinking.
